Hot

Kooleido using a stock image. The colors remind me of one of my mother's bathing suits circa 1969.

Welcome back

Well. That was quite a hiatus.  My first semester teaching
high school was a trifle more exhausting than I had anticipated.
I am back now.

Happy Summertime.

Punchy

I just love paint samples, but I must say that they
are made of thick paper that doesn't punch easily.
Yes, I do have a punch in the shape of a pen nib.
I am, indeed, a pen nerd.

Found in parking lot

OK, so maybe not so environmentally friendly,
but beautiful in the light of the street lamp as I
walked into work today.

Something very diferent

OK, I discovered someone and am blown away by his images.  I will take this entry to introduce you all to him. His name is Ernst Haeckel and you can head over here to read about him:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Haeckel

I discovered a book of his illustrations in our school library and immediately saw mandalas on every page.  On a day when I have a bit more time, I plan to use some of the shapes and details to inspire some of my mandalas.  In the meanwhile, here is a sample:

Here is a link to the book on Amazon:

Petroglyphs

This one reminds me of some petroglyphs we saw on St. Johns.
There were symbols like the coils in this mandala. We thought
They might represent clouds.

Great day for bumble bees

All of a sudden the azaleas went wild. The bees
are stunned at their good fortune.
So am I.

Creating and recreating

I knitted a blanket a couple of years ago that has hundreds of colors in it. This mandala is made using a photo of that blanket. Two for one.
